a labyrinth as a brain

That’s a good question, actually. “Dreampunk” means different things to different people.

To many, it’s a musical genre in the vicinity of vaporwave, along with the accompanying visual aesthetic. To some, it’s an individualistic back-to-nature philosophy. To others, it’s a trippy subgenre of speculative fiction, but is it more sci-fi or fantasy? Or is it something else?

Join me as I attempt to answer the question “What is dreampunk?” once and for all. Or if you’re into skipping ahead, check out the lists of example books, movies, and TV series I've compiled. There’s also a variety of author interviews for you and information on the new 22-author collection Mirrormaze: A Dreampunk Anthology.
